Takuya Nakamura

Takuya Nakamura is a Tokyo-born, New York-based composer, producer, DJ, and multi-instrumentalist whose work moves between jazz, electronic music, improvisation, and club culture. A pianist and trumpeter, he studied at the New England Conservatory under composer and theorist George Russell before becoming an active figure in New York's experimental and electronic scenes. Nakamura has collaborated with artists including Quincy Jones, John Cage, Laurie Anderson, GZA, Lee “Scratch” Perry, Arto Lindsay, CocoRosie, and Jojo Mayer. In recent years, his live trumpet performances over jungle and drum & bass have introduced his music to a new audience, while his broader work continues to connect jazz improvisation with contemporary electronic production.
